Southern author, speaker, and minister Joe Hudson has a rare gift for finding extraordinary humor and profound hope in ordinary daily encounters. Joe has been published in newspapers and magazines for over 17 years. With a storytelling style that immediately draws you in, Joe weaves memorable tales that invite readers to see their own lives, quirks, and families reflected in his words.

 

His rich perspective is shared by a lifetime of leadership, faith, and public service. Joe served his community for nearly thirty years as a Director of Water Resources and has worked as a pastor and youth minister. A dedicated public servant, he also served a term as a City Council Member for Statesville, NC. In December 2025, his decades of community impact were officially recognized when he was awarded The Order of the Long Leaf Pine, North Carolina's highest civilian honor.

 

A freelance writer and speaker with a Master's degree in Public Administration, Joe has written newspaper columns, has been published by the North Carolina Writers' Network, Iredell Free News and the Statesville Record & Landmark, and regularly speaks to large public groups. Joe's roots run deep in eastern North Carolina, from his upbringing on a farm to the adventures of raising three boys with his wife, Louise. In his free time, you can usually find him involved in civic work or playing the guitar and piano.
